mia’s 6th month!

back in december 2011, i took photos of mia when she was only a month old. i remember she was like a tiny little peanut! now, 5 months later (well, technically 6) she’s gotten a little bigger but still a peanut! that can almost sit up without you holding her!

mia was such a good sport about the session, she never stopped smiling and even gave me a few silly faces for variety! my prediction for mia is, when she grows up, she is going to be an excellent swimmer! you will see!

i’ve had such a pleasure with mia and also meeting her buddy paco (the owl). hope you enjoy meeting them as much as i did.

abba’s #1!

today is my dear niece’s 1st birthday! i cannot believe a year has past already and how big she has grown. i remember when i was the growing little kid, i would always hear from the ‘grown ups’ about how big i’ve gotten… and i never really understood… maybe its because i just didn’t see it {at the time} or maybe i just didn’t care… but now, as the ‘grown up’, i see it, through pictures and through my niece. it is so amazing and so precious at the same time.

i’m creating a scrap book for her throughout her first year. i realized that even though i took a lot of photos of her, it’s not enough. i need more. when abby is old enough, i want her to be able to see how she has grown.

i’ve dug through some photos and wanted to share some of my favorites… happy birthday sweet abby!

a plan well planned

when planned sessions don’t seem to work out, there’s always a plan b! saturday i had planned a styled photo shoot with 2 friends. one, whom is a talented but hidden make up artist and the other a model in the making. we were hoping for summery weather so that we can show off some of the new dresses our model just got… but since it was really windy and chilly, it would have made for a miserable time.

SO… what do i do? i dress up my boyfriend and scope out a site {which i’ve been meaning to do}, thinking it would make a great backdrop for my photos. i LOVE the rustic and old feeling of things. a while ago when the ICA had just opened, some friends and i were walking around and came about this old industrial bridge. {i am sure this is a popular spot for tons, but for me, i was just discovering it for the first time.} i instantly thought this would be a great area to take photos. well, finally 5 years later, i did what was supposedly a plan.

hien’s school portraits

how cute is this girl!? i was really excited when hien asked me to shoot her school photos. she’s such an energetic girl full of curiosity for life. and i feel it definitely shows! i knew this would be a fun session to shoot, it doesn’t take much to get this girl to laugh and smile.

my very first styled shoot

first i have to say, i am so grateful for meeting such welcoming people and meeting them at the right time. which honestly, i don’t think i would have been able to take the photos that i share below.

i actually found out about this styled shoot through a new photographer friend that i am just so happy to have met. she made it clear that i should get on the ball on this, ’cause it is a great opportunity! so, i took the day off, put myself on the waiting list, and was so lucky to be able to have snagged a spot because someone dropped out.

which brings me here!

styled photo shoots are just amazing! it’s a lot of hard work and preparation but once that is done, it’s smooth sailing from there! i want to thank Deb Z. (www.deborahzoephoto.com) for planning this event, and everyone who helped, that also participated in modeling, stylizing and donating their things for the day!
